As
you know the Prime Minister confirmed on Sunday night that outdoor tennis
courts, where practical, can open from Wednesday 13 May.
The committee have had an initial Zoom meeting last night to consider the
LTA guidelines regarding this which were issued yesterday. We are
now working on the practicalities of how we can safely enable access to the
courts within the government restrictions on social distancing and other
aspects of the LTA guidelines to keep everyone safe and prevent the spread of
Covid 19.
We know everyone, including ourselves, are keen to get back to playing but the
courts will remain closed until we have put all required safety measures into
place and we can give you very specific details on the personal requirements
all members will have to meet to play on court. Court bookings have been
suspended until we are ready to reopen which will not be this week.
The committee have already decided that the clubhouse will remain closed even
as we restart playing tennis. We do not have the resources to
ensure as required regular cleaning and disinfecting of objects and surfaces
that are touched regularly in areas of high use indoors to prevent the spread
of Covid 19.
We will keep you informed, and you will all receive an email indicating the
opening date and specific requirements regarding play within the LTA guidance
and the situation of our small local club.
I have added the link to the LTA guidance for your information so that you can
make yourself familiar with their requirements on court and moving around a
facility.
In the meantime, the committee have agreed that all 2019/2020 memberships
have been extended to the end of June 2020.
Stay alert, control the virus, save lives.
